Arts and culture are a huge part of New York City, and The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) released an analysis proving just how vital they are. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) and the NEA conducted an economic study evaluating what percentage of our GPD is a result of culture and art. It turns out not only are they big contributors, but they contribute even more than tourism!

With a GPD percentage of 3.2, or $504 billion, its clear that there is an immediate need to keep art thriving in the United States.. The arts suffered a drastic hit during the recession of 2007-2009, more than the actual economy did according to the NEA.
